Citilink to Hold Public Meetings on Proposed Route Changes
FORT WAYNE, Ind., (March 18, 2026) — Citilink is inviting community members to attend two upcoming public meetings to learn about and provide feedback on proposed route updates in Greater Fort Wayne designed to improve service efficiency, strengthen connections across the transit network, and maintain reliable access to key medical services.
The public meetings will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, at the Parkview Mirro Center, 10622 Parkview Plaza Dr., and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, at the Allen County Public Library Dupont Branch, 536 E. Dupont Rd., Fort Wayne.
The two proposed updates include combining the existing Medlink service and Route 21 Glenbrook/Coldwater/Dupont Road into a single, more efficient route and to adjust the schedule for Route 8 Glenbrook/Northrop and Calhoun/Southtown. These proposals are part of Citilink’s ongoing effort to align service with ridership demand while ensuring long-term sustainability.
“These proposed changes allow us to use our resources more effectively while continuing to serve important destinations like medical facilities, housing communities, and retail centers,” said John Metzinger, general manager of Citilink. “Our goal is to maintain strong transit connections for the community while improving overall system efficiency.”
Metzinger also expressed gratitude to Parkview Regional Medical Center, who collaborated with Citilink in designing and funding the Route 21 service.
Citilink data shows that both the Medlink and Route 21 services currently experience lower ridership compared with other routes in the system. Combining the routes would reduce duplicate service while maintaining access to key destinations and improving operational efficiency.
Under the proposals:
● The existing Medlink service and Route 21 Glenbrook/Coldwater/Dupont Road would be combined into a single updated route.
● The updated route would maintain service to key destinations, including Dupont Hospital, Parkview facilities, apartment communities, and major retail areas.
● Route connections across the system would be improved to better coordinate arrival times with other Citilink routes.
The proposed route would connect with Route 4 Wells/Ludwig at Cross Creek at Kelsey Court (behind Meijer) at approximately :40 after the hour. It would also connect with Route 8 Glenbrook/Northrop along Westfield Drive near BioLife between the hourly and half-hour services, ensuring riders wait no longer than 15 minutes for a transfer during peak hours.
Combining the two routes is expected to reduce operating costs while maintaining service coverage.
Separately, the proposed adjustment to Route 8 would better align its schedule with other routes to improve timed connections at Central Station and make transfers easier for riders traveling across the network.
The target implementation date for the service updates is June 1, 2026.
Community members are encouraged to attend the meetings, review the proposed route updates, and share feedback before a final decision is made. For more information or to submit comments, visit fwcitilink.com, email marketing@fwcitilink.com or contact Citilink Customer Service at (260) 432-4546.
