Big improvements are coming to Citilink and they’re designed with one goal in mind: making your ride easier!
Starting June 1, riders will see a series of customer experience upgrades across the system. From how you pay, to how you plan your trip, to how routes connect, these updates are all about creating a smoother, more reliable experience from start to finish.
Over the next month, we’ll be sharing more details about what’s changing and how it benefits you. For now, here’s a look at what you can expect.
Better Ways to Pay
We’re introducing new, more flexible ways to pay for your ride:
- Tap to Pay – Simply tap your card or mobile wallet when you board.
- Fare Capping (Pay As You Go) – Ride throughout the day without worrying about overpaying. You’ll never pay more than the cost of a day pass when paying with tap to pay, smartcard, or mobile tickets.
- All-Day Passes on the Bus – Purchase a day pass directly when you board for added convenience. Please note that it is one regular priced pass purchased per person per day and it will be activated for use at the time of purchase. If you want to purchase all-day passes for future rides, please do so at Central Station or our St. Francis Drive (formerly Leesburg Road) office.
These upgrades make it easier to ride without planning ahead or carrying exact change.
Smarter Trip Planning
Getting where you need to go is about to get even simpler.
- Transit App Royale – Plan your trip, track your bus in real time, and get updates all in one place!
- Updated Schedules and System Maps – New materials will reflect the latest service changes and be easier to navigate
Together, these tools help you spend less time guessing and more time moving.
Improved Routes and Connections
We’re also making targeted service updates to better match how Fort Wayne travels today:
- MedLink Improvements – More coordinated service and better connections
- Route 8 Updates – More consistent half-hour service
- Waynedale Service Changes – With the bridge reopening, service will be more direct and accessible
These updates are designed to improve reliability, reduce travel time, and strengthen connections across the system.
What to Expect Next
Between now and June 1, we’ll be sharing more information about each of these upgrades, including how to use new features and what changes mean for your specific route.
We encourage riders to:
- Stay tuned on social media for updates
- Review upcoming route and schedule changes
- Download the Transit App to be ready for launch
A Better Ride Starts This Summer
These improvements are part of Citilink’s ongoing effort to evolve with the community and provide a transit system that works better for everyone.
Whether you ride every day or just occasionally, we’re making it easier to plan, pay, and get where you need to go.
