FORT WAYNE, Ind., May 16, 2024  — As part of its mission to be a strong community partner – especially helping organizations serving at-need and vulnerable populations – Citilink is announcing an important update to its Wells/Ludwig Route #4.

Effective this Monday, May 20, Route #4 will introduce half-hourly and hourly stops at 1313 West Washington Center Road in front of the new headquarters of the YWCA Northeast Indiana. This new stop will also impact time points for the stop at Meijer on Center Road and the stop at Washington Center and Huguenard, as well as creating an additional stop at Meijer at the intersection of Lima and Ludwig roads.

  • For the hourly Wells/Ludwig buses, the original Meijer outbound time point will be changed to :34 after the hour; the Washington Center and Huguenard time point will now be at :38 after the hour; and the new stop and inbound time point will be at :44 after the hour.
  • For the half-hourly Wells/Ludwig buses, the original Meijer outbound time point will update to :04 after the hour; the Washington Center and Huguenard time point will now be at :08 after the hour; and the new stop and inbound time point at Meijer will be at :14 after the hour.

Citilink team members will be riding the #4 bus throughout the day Monday to assist riders with the new stops and schedules and to answer any questions they may have.

“This route change and new stop brings with it significant benefits to our riders as well as our drivers and enables us to serve a vulnerable population and ensure they have safe, affordable transportation to critical services and support,” said Pam Schieber, Chief Operations Officer with Citilink. “The new headquarters of the YWCA Northeast Indiana will also feature a Bowen Health Services co-location and is in close proximity to Benchmark Human Services – meaning this new stop helps make these organizations and the critical services they provide more accessible to the community.”

This new route update enhances safety for riders by replacing a number of left turns with right ones; reversing the old route into the new one will be more efficient and secure. With the new sidewalks that have gone in or will soon go in at Washington Center and Ludwig, Citilink will now locate stops on the sidewalk side of those streets. In addition, its stop at Meijer is now lined up with the existing shelter.
